Field Application Engineer Personal Hygiene (m/w/d)
International role for an experienced Field Application Engineer in Personal Hygiene, Nonwoven or Tissue & Towel. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong and internationally minded professional with experience in the personal hygiene, nonwoven, tissue & towel, converting, adhesive technologies, operations or machinery manufacturing environment.
The role combines technical expertise, customer-facing responsibility, international exposure and close collaboration with sales, R&D, product development, operations and external technology partners.
Our client is looking for someone who does not simply provide technical support, but who acts as a trusted technical advisor to customers across the EIMEA region.

You will work at the interface of customers, internal technical teams, sales, global key accounts, R&D, OEMs, OMMs and machine manufacturers. Your mission will be to support customers with the right technical solutions, improve application performance, troubleshoot complex production challenges and contribute to innovation projects in the personal hygiene market.
The position offers a strong combination of hands-on technical responsibility and strategic international customer exposure.

Your responsibilities
- As Field Application Engineer Personal Hygiene EIMEA, you will provide technical support to customers in the personal hygiene, nonwoven and tissue & towel industries across the EIMEA region.
- You will analyze customer requirements, production processes and application challenges in order to develop tailored technical recommendations and product solutions.
- You will support product trials, line tests, troubleshooting activities and implementation projects directly at customer sites.
- You will work closely with customers to improve process stability, application performance, efficiency, quality and sustainability.
- You will collaborate with internal sales teams, global key accounts, product development, R&D and other technical experts to translate customer needs into practical and commercially relevant solutions.
- You will build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including OEMs, OMMs, machine manufacturers, substrate manufacturers and other key players across the hygiene value chain.
- You will contribute to new product demonstrations, technical evaluations, customer workshops and innovation projects.
- You will share best practices across regions and support the continuous improvement of technical processes, application knowledge and customer service standards.
- You will develop and deliver technical trainings for internal teams and external customers, both on-site and virtually.
- You will represent our client in customer meetings, technical discussions, industry events and selected external forums.
Your profile
- You hold a Master’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or another relevant technology or science discipline.
- You bring ideally at least five years of professional experience in the personal hygiene industry. Experience in nonwoven, tissue & towel, adhesives, converting, application engineering, operations or machinery manufacturing for hygiene products is also highly relevant.
- You have a solid understanding of technical production environments and are comfortable discussing application processes, materials, substrates, machine parameters, product performance and troubleshooting topics with customers.
- You are able to translate complex technical issues into clear, practical and customer-oriented recommendations.
- You have strong interpersonal and communication skills and are confident working with stakeholders at different organizational levels — from operators, engineers and plant managers to sales teams, R&D experts and senior decision-makers.
- You combine analytical thinking with a structured, result-oriented and pragmatic problem-solving approach.
- You are experienced in troubleshooting, risk assessment, root-cause analysis and technical evaluation.
- You enjoy working in a diverse, multinational and multifunctional environment.
- You speak English fluently. French language skills would be a strong plus.
- You are willing to travel extensively across the EIMEA region, approximately 60–80%.
- You are based in a location with good access to an international airport or are open to relocating to the Düsseldorf area. Please note that relocation support is currently not foreseen.
Additional experience that would be highly attractive
- Experience in personal hygiene operations would be a strong advantage.
- Experience with a machine manufacturer serving the personal hygiene industry would also be highly relevant.
- Knowledge of adhesives, bonding technologies, nonwoven materials, substrates, tissue & towel applications or hygiene converting processes would be valuable.
- Experience in lean management, operational excellence, project management, quality management or technical training would be appreciated.
- Digital skills beyond MS Office would be a clear plus — for example Power BI, statistics, databases, programming, data analysis or digital manufacturing tools.
