Robert Walters Germany under New Leadership
Since February, Thomas Hoffmann has been responsible for leading the German Robert Walters offices as Managing Director – covering Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Berlin. In addition to the strategic management and further development of these locations, his focus lies on expanding the offering of global talent solutions in Germany.
With over 20 years of experience in recruitment, Thomas Hoffmann brings extensive industry knowledge and leadership expertise to his new role. Since joining Robert Walters in 2018, Hoffmann has supported the company’s expansion in Germany. He established the Hamburg office from the ground up, built a strong network of businesses and professionals, and formed a high-performing team in the Hanseatic city. Furthermore, he contributed his extensive experience to refining onboarding processes, supported the expansion of internal training programmes, and created new structures for the professional development of employees and leaders. As his tenure at Robert Walters progressed, Hoffmann also temporarily took on responsibility for the Frankfurt office and later played a key role in the opening and development of the Berlin location.
“From day one, I have been inspired by the mentality of the people at Robert Walters – the strong team spirit and high level of motivation among colleagues create an inspiring work environment. In such a setting, it is particularly rewarding to drive projects forward and celebrate successes together. My focus now is on seizing the current market conditions as an opportunity: through more efficient structures, targeted adaptation to market developments, and close collaboration within the team,” says Thomas Hoffmann. He adds: “I am very pleased to be the first locally rooted Managing Director in the 15-year history of Robert Walters Germany – someone who has been a longstanding part of the local organisation and is well-versed in the German recruitment market.”
New Director in Düsseldorf Strengthens the Leadership Team
Hoffmann is particularly pleased about the reinforcement of the Düsseldorf team with the addition of Michael Andris. Since mid-February, Andris has been leading the office as Director, bringing extensive experience from international recruitment consultancies. In previous roles at the Page Group and SR Group, he demonstrated his leadership skills by establishing new business divisions and brands while significantly shaping strategic corporate decisions. He now applies this expertise at Robert Walters, working closely with his team to develop tailored solutions for complex client requirements.
His career path illustrates how much can be achieved in recruitment with resilience, determination, and passion. At the age of 14, he arrived in Germany without speaking the language – yet he did not allow challenges or circumstances to hold him back. Instead, he relied on hard work, ambition, and perseverance. After completing his degree in economics, he found his way into recruitment, took on responsibility early on, and established himself as a leader. Today, he shares his experience and proves that success is no coincidence but the result of consistent effort and clear goal setting.
"What particularly convinced me about Robert Walters was its strong commitment to values. Transparency, long-term partnerships, and a people-focused approach are truly embedded in the company's culture – and that immediately resonated with me. I was also particularly impressed by the holistic advisory approach: rather than simply filling individual roles, we provide our clients with sustainable, comprehensive solutions for all their talent challenges. To me, this is the right way to create genuine added value," Andris emphasises.
