I'm shaping my future

While searching for a way to work full-time and study at the same time, Niklas came across Robert Walters' part-time master's programme. The combination of theory and practice sounded so exciting to him that he contacted Robert Walters directly, and from there, everything fell into place.

My enthusiasm for sales and marketing

My professional career began with a double degree bachelor's degree in international business, which took me from Aachen to Dublin and sparked my desire to work internationally and think outside the box at an early age. Through internships at home and abroad, I also gained valuable insights into various industries and working methods, which sharpened my eye for different perspectives and sparked my passion for sales and marketing. Afterwards, I wanted to expand my knowledge but still continue to gain practical experience, so I decided to pursue a dual master's degree in sales management, and that's where my journey at Robert Walters in Frankfurt began.

What makes sales special

As I myself have a sales-intensive job and also work with and place specialists and managers in sales, I have noticed that this field is full of dynamism and individuality. What fascinates me most is that everyone can be successful in their own unique way. There is no universal formula; rather, it is about recognising your own strengths and using them in a targeted manner, and that you can constantly learn from others. Each person brings new approaches that inspire and broaden your horizons. At the same time, it is an area where soft skills such as empathy, strong communication skills and reliability are often more important than pure numbers or facts. These skills, which are difficult to measure, make the difference between a good salesperson and a great one.

From master's student to senior consultant

With the support of my team and my managers, I was able to continuously develop my skills and have already been promoted several times due to my successes. Today, I am a senior consultant and specialise in placing sales experts in permanent positions. 

What do I particularly like about my work? It's the feeling of really being able to make a difference, whether it's by building lasting relationships or successfully placing talent with companies, always putting quality before quantity. I attach great importance to building long-term partnerships based on trust and mutual respect.

Freedom, goals and team spirit

It is my motivating colleagues, clear promotion targets and the opportunity to measure my performance that have spurred me on over the years. But what I particularly appreciate is the opportunity to make my own decisions – from customer focus to daily planning – at Robert Walters, personal responsibility is a top priority.

This freedom gives me the chance to bring my own values to my work. Values such as respect, mutual commitment and communication on an equal footing are my top priorities, both in my dealings with colleagues and with clients and candidates.

Passion that pays off

Looking back, I would choose Robert Walters again and again. The focus here is on personal development, a culture of feedback and trust from managers. You are given the space to try things out, recognise your own strengths and learn from your mistakes. At the same time, I have felt from the very beginning that my skills are recognised and appreciated. My personal highlight was participating in this year's Top Achievers Weekend in South Africa, which once again underlines how much commitment and passion can pay off for each and every individual.

And then, of course, there is the unique team: working with so many talented and dedicated colleagues makes every day special and ensures that you simply feel at home, whether in the office or at joint team events. I have learned how valuable it is to learn from each other and to pull together.
