Peter Resch's Story
“I felt that he genuinely cared about my wishes and needs, and I wasn’t just a number in the system.”
The collaboration with Mr. Schmidt from Robert Walters was exceptional right from the start. I felt like more than just a candidate – it was a genuine partnership.
Peter Resch looks back on a varied and impressive career path. After completing his apprenticeship as a metalworker, he gained his first professional experience as a foreman before successfully passing his master’s certification and working as a departmental supervisor. With a qualification as a business administrator, he expanded his skillset and eventually found his way into sales. Step by step, he developed his career further – from working in internal sales to becoming a Key Account Manager at an Anglo-American corporation. However, his career was not without its challenges: insolvencies, periods of unemployment, and caring for his seriously ill father presented both professional and personal hurdles. After his previous employer closed its doors and following the passing of his father, Peter Resch decided it was time for a fresh start in his career.
Peter Resch first came into contact with Robert Walters through a job advertisement on StepStone. Despite initial doubts about whether the advertised role was truly suitable for him, he decided to apply. Niklas Schmidt, a consultant at Robert Walters, not only dispelled these uncertainties but also reassured him that he was the perfect candidate for the position. “Mr. Schmidt was dedicated from the very beginning. He took care of everything. It was a complete worry-free package,” recalls Peter Resch.
The new professional challenge would take him into the sales department of a Chinese company that manufactures high-quality SCR catalysts for stationary applications. Peter Resch was particularly impressed by the thorough preparation and support provided by Niklas Schmidt when he was invited to travel to Beijing during the process to attend an important semi-annual meeting and get to know the company better. “Even on the plane before departing for China, Mr. Schmidt called me to ensure everything was in order and running smoothly. He wanted to know immediately after my return how it had gone. This level of dedication is truly rare,” said Peter.
During his visit to China, Peter Resch not only got to know the company but also gained insight into cultural nuances and customs. “It was fascinating to see the processes on-site and to feel immediately integrated into the team – even before the contract was signed, I was already treated like a colleague.”
Peter Resch always felt in good hands with Niklas Schmidt. “The trust and transparency that Mr. Schmidt showed me were crucial in my decision to take this position. I felt that he genuinely cared about my wishes and needs, and I wasn’t just a number.” Resch continued: “Mr. Schmidt didn’t just read my CV; he truly understood who I am. His expertise helped me find the niche where I could re-establish myself.”
Today, Peter Resch has settled into his new role and looks optimistically to the future.
