Max Story
"My collaboration with my consultant was smooth and swift from the very beginning. Less than two and a half weeks passed from the initial conversation to signing the contract."
Maximilian Wohlschläger has an impressive career trajectory: After completing his secondary school education, he pursued vocational training as a technical draftsman in the field of heating, ventilation, and sanitation. It quickly became clear to him that merely taking on and executing tasks was not enough—he wanted to be actively involved in decision-making processes. As a result, he completed his high school diploma and went on to study production engineering in Rosenheim, where he earned his bachelor's degree. Max was always a dedicated student, and after just one semester, he began working as a student assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute, where he later wrote his promising bachelor's thesis on climate control systems in aircraft and vehicles. His subsequent master's thesis at the University of Applied Sciences Rosenheim, focused on the identification of plastics and microplastics in water, garnered media attention when he won the Bavarian Culture and Science Award.
Max's interest in researching new imaging analysis methods for microplastics led him to pursue a PhD. At the same time, he coordinated two significant projects. First, he led a smaller research project focused on developing innovative imaging methods for sorting and recycling old wood. This project served as a precursor to a larger, thematically related collaborative project that spanned two years. Concurrently, he oversaw a second project focused on examining and validating the same imaging identification method for detecting plastics in food. Under his coordination, four project partners worked together, conducting extensive studies that resulted in the first promising findings and demonstrators.
After a total of 11 years in academia, Max decided to transition to the industry. His first contact with Robert Walters occurred when a recruitment consultant reached out to him on LinkedIn and sent him an intriguing job posting. Max was immediately excited about both the company and the position. He was thoroughly prepared for the interviews, including potential questions that might arise, and was briefed on the interviewers and the company culture.
"My collaboration with my consultant was smooth and swift from the very beginning. Less than two and a half weeks passed from the initial conversation to signing the contract," says Max. He continues, "My consultant and I were on the same wavelength from the start; we could joke around and also discuss serious topics. He was always there to listen. Not only did he help me find a suitable position, but we also looked at my career prospects over the next five to ten years together," Max explains. "With Robert Walters' support, I was able to negotiate my start date for the new position without any issues, and my vacation plans were also taken into account," Max adds. This made him feel well-supported and in good hands.
On October 1st, Max begins his new role as a project engineer, with the prospect of further developing in the areas of product management and business development management. "The vision for the future that we developed together gives me a sense of security and shows me that I'm on the right path," says Max.
Thanks to the professional and dedicated support from Robert Walters, Max has found his dream job and looks forward to the future with optimism. "I always felt like I was talking to someone who truly knew what they were doing and had my best interests at heart."
