Data-based recruitment: a new era of talent hunting

14/04/2023 – The number of actively seeking and qualified applicants on the market is continuously decreasing. At the same time, on the company side, the requirements sought for applicants are becoming more and more specific. This leads to a shortage of skilled workers that can’t be adequately covered, making it increasingly difficult for companies to generate suitable applicants simply by publishing job advertisements. How can you defy the skills shortage by using data to find qualified employees and keep them in your company long-term? This was discussed by HR managers at our last HR Business Breakfast in Frankfurt, chaired by Robin Zugehör, Commercial Director DACH at LutherOne, and Alessa Kinna, Senior Consultant Sales & Marketing at Robert Walters.

Finding the right talent with the help of data

Data-based employee recruitment opens up new possibilities for attracting talented professionals to one's own company. Insights from data analytics make it possible to target the needs of potential employees efficiently and attract the best talent.

By using data-driven recruitment strategies, companies can optimise and accelerate the recruitment process, strengthen their employer brand, and improve their market position. They can also increase employee retention and make more informed decisions about compensation and benefits.

Data-driven employee acquisition is an essential part of the future of recruitment. Companies should use innovative strategies and insights from data analytics to remain attractive to highly skilled talent. Using intelligent data, they can leave the competition behind and successfully advance their own company.

Target recruitment strategies for better results

Kinna emphasises the importance of using different recruitment channels and targeting specific groups. Social media, online job exchanges, and networks are indispensable. Communication should always be tailored to the needs of the respective target groups.

Details on data-based recruitment functions

To make data work for you and to facilitate employee recruitment in your own company, it is best to combine a variety of specific market analysis methods that work based on extensive data sources. Through such a data-based approach, several functions can be fulfilled:

1. Define talent pools

Combining internal and external data sources makes it possible to identify the best talent pools based on specific criteria. This is particularly relevant regarding business growth and relocation.

2. Identifying the best talent

Such a data model makes it possible to find talent through targeted marketing campaigns, via job ads, social media, and proactive headhunting. This allows the most desirable talent to be identified from the competition and transferable skills to be uncovered.

3. Improve employee retention

Targeted data analysis reveals what skilled workers are looking for in an employer and how their own company's offerings compare to competitors. This information helps to understand what professionals value in an employer. It provides indications of how one's own brand is perceived in the overall market and can identify needs for adjustment.

Using data to create competitive salary and benefit packages

Alessa Kinna: ,We offer a special Market Intelligence Recruitment Service that combines the available information on hiring data with our many years of expert knowledge. From this, we create customised compensation and benefits overviews that help attract suitable talent. This includes, for example, detailed salary survey by industry and function, salary benchmarking, and company benefits assessments.’
